Will it work on my device?
CONTRIBUTING.mdOpenMuse is an MIT-licensed alpha. Contributions should make delegated work reliable and visible, with honest connector status and useful native interactions.
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile, copy .env.example to .env, and use npx copilotkit@latest login then npx copilotkit@latest project select to set the required Intelligence key.pnpm dev and, in another terminal, pnpm dev:web.Never commit .env, .openmuse, browser profiles, credentials, or personal documents. Live provider testing is optional for ordinary contributions; state exactly which paths you tested.
pnpm lint
pnpm typecheck
pnpm test
pnpm build:server
pnpm build:web
pnpm build:ios
pnpm build:android
pnpm --dir apps/worker typecheck
For browser changes:
pnpm --dir apps/worker exec playwright install chromium
pnpm test:browser
# With Docker available:
pnpm --dir apps/worker test:docker
Both browser suites use controlled HTTP fixtures through the real worker and proxy URL checks, with disposable profiles instead of your saved sessions. The container runner builds the normal worker image and mounts its test entrypoint read-only. Building the image and installing dependencies require registry access; fixture navigation and downloads do not need external DNS or websites. CI runs lint, types, tests, platform exports, Chromium lifecycle, and the disposable browser-container suite.
Open an issue for substantial architecture or connector changes so contributors can agree on scope. Small fixes can go directly to a pull request.
Describe the problem, resulting behavior, and verification. Include a screenshot or short recording for UI changes and note any untested provider/platform path. Do not paste private account data or tokens in logs. Security reports follow SECURITY.md.
Contributions are accepted under the MIT license.
Then run bash setup.sh. It stops at the first error and is safe to run again. Servers and tests aren't started; it lists them at the end. Read it first.
Needs Git: xcode-select --install
git clone https://github.com/CopilotKit/openmuse.git cd openmuse
Node.js >=22
# needs nvm: brew install nvm (or https://github.com/nvm-sh/nvm) nvm install --lts
Fill in secrets: CPK_INTELLIGENCE_API_KEY
cp .env.example .env
Needs: PostgreSQL (no compose file — install locally or run via Docker)
corepack enable pnpm install
pnpm dev
pnpm test
Requirements: Node 24 LTS, pnpm 11.19.0, and a CopilotKit Intelligence project key. The local sample app needs no model, Google account, or Docker.
git clone https://github.com/CopilotKit/OpenMuse.git openmuse
cd openmuse
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
cp .env.example .env
npx copilotkit@latest login
npx copilotkit@latest project select
# Set CPK_INTELLIGENCE_API_KEY in .env to the generated server-only project key.
# Keep the CLI-generated CPK_TELEMETRY_ID too, including in deployed server environments.
pnpm dev
In another terminal:
pnpm dev:web
Open localhost:8081. The API runs at localhost:8787/api/health.
For iOS or Android, use pnpm --dir apps/mobile ios or pnpm --dir apps/mobile android. Xcode or Android tooling is required. The PDF reader needs an Expo development build; use native setup.
