How to install on Linux
Nintendo Switch userland code execution using Civilization 7 game cartridge
Saved setup from 3 h ago
Will it work on my device?
On Ubuntu 24.04:
sudo apt install -y git build-essential cmake ninja-build gcc-arm-none-eabi libnewlib-arm-none-eabi libstdc++-arm-none-eabi-newlib python3 nodejs npm
git clone --branch 2.3.1 --depth 1 --recurse-submodules --shallow-submodules https://github.com/raspberrypi/pico-sdk.git ~/pico-sdk
export PICO_SDK_PATH=$HOME/pico-sdk
cd PicoSwitch
npm install # terser for compress.js
node compress.js # reads ../core.js -> payload.txt
cmake --preset pico2 && cmake --build --preset pico2 # RP2350 -> build-pico2/src/civ7-pico2.uf2
cmake --preset pico1 && cmake --build --preset pico1 # RP2040 -> build-pico1/src/civ7-pico1.uf2
Then run bash setup.sh. It stops at the first error and is safe to run again. Servers and tests aren't started; it lists them at the end. Read it first.
git clone https://github.com/Gezine/CivSwitch.git cd CivSwitch
Node.js
# https://nodejs.org/en/download (or nvm)
In the maintainers' order. Do the README instructions above first — they cover steps outside the terminal.
sudo apt install -y git build-essential cmake ninja-build gcc-arm-none-eabi libnewlib-arm-none-eabi libstdc++-arm-none-eabi-newlib python3 nodejs npm export PICO_SDK_PATH=$HOME/pico-sdk npm install # terser for compress.js node compress.js # reads ../core.js -> payload.txt cmake --preset pico2 && cmake --build --preset pico2 # RP2350 -> build-pico2/src/civ7-pico2.uf2 cmake --preset pico1 && cmake --build --preset pico1 # RP2040 -> build-pico1/src/civ7-pico1.uf2
