How to install on Linux
BookLedger is a fresh, modular rebuild of a personal book collection and inventory manager. It is designed for portable Windows use, offline-first cataloging, and eventual integration with an Android ISBN/photo companion.
Saved setup from 3 h ago
The maintainers included run_bookledger.bat. Run it from the cloned folder after reading it.
.\run_bookledger.bat
Will it work on my device?
Then run bash setup.sh. It stops at the first error and is safe to run again. Servers and tests aren't started; it lists them at the end. Read it first.
git clone https://github.com/hectordoesgorug/BookLedger.git cd BookLedger
Python >=3.10
sudo apt install python3 python3.10 python3-venv # Debian/Ubuntu
python -m venv .venv source .venv/bin/activate pip install -r requirements.txt
pytest
Install Python 3.10 or newer with Tk support, then run run_bookledger.bat from the project folder. The launcher creates the development environment, installs the app and its runtime dependencies when needed, and starts BookLedger.
